I got a flat tire and need to replace one. I was told by a mechanic that I needed to get the one from the same manufacture.
I have 215-R60/16 of continental tire but I thought that I can get anyone's as long as the size is same. Isn't it ?

To have 3 of one brand of tire and a 4th tire of a different brand, even if same size, speed rating, etc. it will cause issues, make the car lean or sink, make it ride funny, etc.

the only time you should miss match tire names/brands/sizes is front to back....meaning both front are the same, both rear are the same.

now if your other 3 tires are fairly new....just but 1 tire of the same to replace the flat, so you have a matching set. if the other 3 tires are getting near time to replace...then go ahead and buy 2 tires that you like, either the same or different, and then have them mounted on both fronts or both rears.

if you have a full size spare, it should match the tires on your car as well.

a car can be all that....but without good tires, its nothing....as that is the only part that is saving your back side as that is the only part of the car that ever touches the pavement....its the most important part of a car hands down.

except you're planning to interchange each and each and every of the tires on your automobile, you extremely could replace it with an similar variety. it isn't smart topersistent on mixed tread varieties, really in inclement climate. One tread progression may grip really in yet in a unique way from the different tread varieties, ensuing in instability or uneven positioned on. for this reason, that is ideal to apply an similar tire on all 4 wheels. for instance, my automobile got here with summer season overall performance tires, although the spare is an similar one used on the bottom form (i.e. the bottom tire). no matter if that is an similar length, the total % reported on the spare is 55mph. For the record, I change to wintry climate tires in the course of the wintry climate months (summer season tires can't take care of climate below freezing, or any ice or snow in any respect). I also use an finished set of four wintry climate tires for an analogous reason.

I am by no means an expert, but it sounds like he's trying to rip you off. If the tire is the same size, it should work just fine. I have 3 of one brand and 1 of another on my car.
