The name "Pakistan" means "Land of the Pure" in Sindhi, Urdu and Persian. It was coined in 1934 by Choudhary Rahmat Ali, who published it in the pamphlet Now or Never. The name was coined from the names of five territories that were proposed as constituents of a separate country for the Muslims in British India, these territories were previously considered as Afghan or Persian domains from a cultural as well as an ethnic point of view; the territories consisted of P-Punjab, A-Afghania, K-Kashmir, S-Sindh, and Tan/Stan-Balochistan/Tokharistan.[6] The name also implies that the people of this land are 'pure'. Officially, the nation was founded as the Dominion of Pakistan in 1947, and was renamed as the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in 1956.

Many central and south Asian states and regions end with the element -stan, such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Baluchistan, Kurdistan, and Turkistan. This -stan is formed from the Iranian root *stā-, "to stand, stay," and means "place (where one stays), home, country."
Pakistan is a bit of an exception; its name was coined in 1933 using the suffix -istan from Baluchistan preceded by the initial letters of Punjab, Afghanistan, and Kashmir.

Pak + Is + Sthan. Pak is a urdu word which means holy / sacred / pure. Sthan means place. "Is" is a connector used to join two words. Pakistan means a holy / sacred place. Now dont tell me you want to make of pakistan because of bad things like terrorism it is associated with. Not all people are alike and not all pakistanis are terrorists. Few bunch of people for their vested interest has brought disgrace to the country.
