It repeatedly keeps crashing, it gets to the desktop, and then when about 5 or 6 things pop up in the taskbar, it crashes again. Is there a way I can remove this Rootkit/Virus or whatever it is on my own with an AntiVirus program, even if when my computer is repeatedly crashing? In Safe Mode?

Perhaps you need a better anti-virus program than you one you are running. I did a Google search for your virus and the only company that shows it is Kaspersky. This coincidentally is the anti-virus system that I am running on my computer and I would recommend it to you highly. Also you need a good anti-spyware program these days and I think the best is CounterSpy. With these 2 programs on your computer you will never have a problem again.

download a program called hijack this. Search it on google and find the official site (i dont think i can link on here?)

Then run it, its very quick and print a log. Then post the log on the forums there and someone will tell you any processes that are running that shouldnt. You can then use hijack this to delete them.

If you feel the virus is still there then download a new antivirus, maybe some malware programs such as spybot or adaware.

If your on XP you could use system restore which is in your control panel, and set it to an earlier date to see if that makes a difference.

Failing all that i would format the drive. But before you do that try the above and any other suggestions you get. Good luck.

You said it deleted Rootkitwin32. In doing so it went into your Registry and made changes. In that registry change it caused other dependent programs to become inoperable, thus the crashing you are seeing.

You might try as suggested a restoration of System Restore to a prior date, However, that will reisert the Registry with capability to fully restore Rootkit.win32 And unless you take further action your antivirus will again delete it and you will be back in trouble again. Do these steps below.

1. Search the Web and find out how to rid of that virus using manual removal start and regedit I see on Google lots of possibile methods select one of them

2 Restore registry to earlier date prior to deltition by your Anti.virus. You can look at your Antivirus log and see the exact time action was taken, Set it minutes before it took action so that the virus will be back into the computer.

3 Go to regedit and remove or change virus keys and values as directed by info you found on Web

4. Search the FILES for other pertinent software named Rootkit
delete them also

5. shut down your computer, Reboot, and see if viurs is gone. It probably will be gone

6. Try out your computer now. Just in case problem arise, save that old Registry date.

Consider using a browser that doesn not use ActiveX, such as FirefoxMozilla, those are a much safer browser than WinExplorer which uses Active X Active X means active exchange of files ect computer to computer.
