Here are a number of ways to help you get back in:
Method 1: Use a password reset disk
If you created a password reset disk for Windows XP, reset your password by using the password reset disk.
Click the links to learn how:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/305478/
Method 2:
1. Log on as an administrator to reset the password
If you cannot log on to Windows by using a particular user account (including the Administrator or Computer Administrator accounts), but you can log on to another account that has administrative credentials (including the Administrator or Computer Administrator accounts), follow these steps:1. Log on to Windows by using the administrator account that has a password that you remember.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK:
control userpasswords2
4. Click the user account that you forgot the password for, and then click Reset Password.
5. Type a new password in both the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and then click OK.

There may be other better ways, but if you unplug it, take out the battery, and then take out the CMOS battery and wait for a couple days, the computer will forget the password. However, it will also forget a lot of other things as well. So before you do that, turn the computer off and when you turn it back on, before Windows starts, enter CMOS setup. You will have to hit the delete key or F3, or F5, if you don't know someone to ask about your particular computer just keep trying different F keys and maybe you will find it. Once you get into CMOS setup, don't change anything, but go through and write down all the settings so if they change later you will know how to put them back.
The CMOS battery is like a large watch battery about the size of a quarter or even a little larger. If it is soldered in, then take it to someone.

Where did you set the password? There are several places on a laptop, 1 - In the laptop boot. If it is here, check the manufacturers support website, they will tell you how. 2 - The hard drive. No way I know of to correct this. 3- Windows log on. Search on google for utilities to do what you need, there are many that can help.

you may be to just hit cancel and log in under a non-admin account. Then there are programs you can buy to litterly hack your passwor dou to your computer. Good luck though.
I also should state tha treinstalling the OS will clear the old password.

Try shutting it down, then when you start it up hit F8 costantly so you get into the "Safe Mode". If you set a new account with a PW, you should be able to get in through the "Administrator". Then you can erase your PW. If that doesn't work, I don't know how to help you.

Can you log on in safe mode? sometimes that works. If not you'll have to call the computer manufacture up and see if they can help you. They might ask you to restore the system though.
