Today's "Blue" or liberal states are far better off than their counterpart "Red" or conservative states. They lead in wealth, education, physical fitness, life span, and most all other categories.
Is this because the Rich Blue states are greedy? Shouldn't these Blue states be distributing more of their wealth to the Red states?
If wealth distribution is what they believe in, then the taxes on the blue states should double while the red states should see a reduction in the amount of taxes they pay.
Right?

Interesting that liberals believe that the poor should work harder and that the rich states pay enough in taxes. You sound like a gaggle of neo-cons.
If the poor states are still poor, then clearly the blue states are contributing their fair share.
Where's your compassion for those not as well off as you? You sound greedy.

The population in red states makes the tax base too small to generate the revenues to cover the basic instruture. For example, how would the state of Montana have the money in state taxes to cover thousand plus miles of interstate running thru the state without federal help. Another example, how would you build power plants, power lines without some federal help in poorer states because the incomes, and tax base as said again is too small. There needs to be redisturbtion of tax dollars for basic insturcture so people have equal access to basic services to make the economy as a nation a whole lot more efficent and reduce the income disparties. Before interstate system in the 1950s the smaller states incomes were half or less of the more populated states like New York, Ohio, New Jersey.
Therefore, a public works project was needed to bring the economy of scale to the smaller interior states, and China is starting to do that right now because dispairties of income between rural and urban areas creates economic, politcal tensions. To reduce economic and poltical disparity there gonna be some spending needed in those areas even if it economically inefficent at times.
Finally some blue states have higher taxes becuase of climate since it costs a lot more tax dollars to keep warm the poor in the winter in Minnesota, or North Dakota than it does in Texas.
Plus, add snow removal, and mainting roads in brutal climates costs a lot more because the freezing of the ground in winter, and thawing in the spring makes it so you have to spend more money to maintain the instrucutre.
The further west in USA you go the more federal dollars are needed to build maintian insturcture because of phsyical barriers of distances, and phyiscal barriers like mountains, and uneven soil.

The term "red" or "blue" state is a misnomer. It merely indicates what party the majority of people voted for in the last election.
For example, in California there are about 6,800,000 registered Democrats and about 5,300,000 Republicans.
However, if you believe in equitable wealth distribution, be careful; some on here might call you a communist.

Blue states already pay more in taxes to Washington DC than they get back from the government. Do you want them to pay even more to the welfare states who voted for Bush?
How about a tax on war supporters, to make them pay for the $1,000,000,000,000 they are costing America?
Interesting that you think that people should not have to pay for the consequences of their actions. I thought you were a capitalist. I guess not.

We all pay too much. But if you think you're not paying enough just make out a check to the IRS for whatever amount you feel is appropriate. Please do us all a couple of favors: (1) don't run for any office and (2) don't breed!
