It's got a 4 inch diameter exhaust with a 3 inch hole in the wall. It's connected to the wall via a fashioned metal funnel and some flexible metal tubing.

I know that the exhaust probably can help get moisture away faster, but I feel like it doesnt get hot enough. I used a digital thermometer along with the shoe-drying rack to test how hot the dryer got on HIGH, and it made it up to 114 degrees F in about 15 minutes.

I definitely hear the internal furnace turning on.

This is a new sears kenmore dryer.

go to " repairclinic.com " . i don't know if they have the specific answer on their site, but you can e-mail them and they will answer you. i used them and them helped me figure out what was wrong with my gas dryer. it only cost me $ 17.00 in parts and it works great.

Years ago, it was cheapest to use a gas dryer. Once the economy straightens out, a barrel of oil will be on the rise again. The gas dryers outlasted the electric in the 70's. Washing machines are electric, mine is front loading, energy efficient, meaning it uses less water. I don't find my clothes any more tangled than they were in the top loading machine I used to have.

make sure your dryer vent isn't plugged. some dryers have a moisture sensor in them so testing it with nothing really in it may not be a good indicator of how well it is working. If it takes longer than 50 - 70 minutes to dry a full load of clothes, it's not working right.

114 degrees is not very high, I am guessing but I'd say 140 - 160 would be ideal.
