Nothing could defy the gravitational fulls of large bodies of masses; such as, Earth, and as for "Superman" who is a fictitious character that has sunk into the minds of millions people specially, youth is nothing but just a deliberation of our imagination. As far as the movie and comic script, his superpowers for flying have something to do with the Sun.

Basically he is a God, alien actually, but are not all aliens Gods or Goddesses anyhow? They are able to do whatever they want, flying is not a big problem actually, mushrooms can help,especially magic ones!

I don't think it was ever explained in the films, but I know he got his power from the sun. (In the films anyway, not sure about the comics).
