Well if you don't want to buy one you are limited. You have to write on something! At least a ledger from Staples or something? The leatherbound ones with a leather strap to close it from Barnes and Noble or Borders are cool.
Otherwise just use your computer. You can ramble and free form thoughts much faster than writing. If you do open a word document and add a date and your writing everyday rather than a new file everday. It will give it more continuity if you want to read it later. But once in a while start a new file so it doesn't get to long. And above all else..........password it.

try keeping it on your computer and save it on to a cd or a disk so when you have to look at it again then just pop it in!
Although buying something really cheap from the dollar store wouldn't hurt. Or just use a spiral notebook or a marble notebook!
Or you can start a dairy on the internet and keep it private!

Write in an old notebook. Most people have them lying around. Or just type one on the computer.

I buy journals that are like diaries without the lock and key. I have a home safe box that they fit in nicely and no one has the keys to it but me.

Print some nice stationary papers off of the internet and keep them in a binder .. or folder or something. And change the paper design to fit your mood of the writing!! Make it fun and personal.

Any type of composition book or notebook would work. You can also keep an electronic one on your computer or do a blog.

do you have an old folder lying around? you could just use notebook paper and a folder with brads or something. or, you could write on notebook paper and use some yarn looped through the holes to keep it together. or, you could just keep loose pages in a manilla envelope.
