Why do a lot of men (just watch america's funniest videos or your own experiences) think scaring people is funny? I.E, hiding and then shouting, etc. I think this is very cruel and a touch sadistic.

I agree. People like that need to feel power at the expense of their "scare victims", and it's sick. They usually aren't thrilled when someone reciprocates, either.
