Deja Vu is French for "already seen". It's a sense that you get when you have an eerie feeling that something already happened even when you know it didn't.

I learned in psychology class that deja vu is just when your brain perceives something that happened in a previous event and relates it to a current event so you feel as if it had happened before even when it hadn't. For example, you walk down a grocery store aisle with your dad when you're 10 and you catch a whiff of his cologne. Then 10 years later, you walk down a similar aisle (freezer section, cereal, etc) with your boyfriend and catch a whiff of his cologne. The similar circumstances and similar setting triggers you to experience deja vu because you feel like it had happened before. It technically had, but in a different time, place, and circumstance, but your brain doesn't tell you that.

I also heard a theory that it's when your brain sends the same perceptory signals multiple times. For example, you hear a conversation or see a sight and your senses trigger the signal to the brain, but then accidentally send the same signal again so it makes you feel like you already seen it (which you had just milliseconds previously).

Make sense? It's a weird feeling and hard to explain. I personally love experiencing deja vu. After learning about that in Psychology, i sit there and try to figure out what similar event I could have been in to make me get that feeling, etc. It's fun. And since it only happens once in a blue moon, it makes it cooler.

"Déjà vu" (French for "already seen", also called paramnesia) is the experience of feeling that one has witnessed or experienced a new situation previously. Lots of people mistaken deja vu as being "psychic." More information on wikipedia.com.

.......I think I've seen you before........ that's deja vu

I'll try to answer your question in a slightly different way by quoting a very nice song called deja vu by Iron Maiden, a heavy metal band. Enjoy!!

Deja-Vu
(Murray-Harris)

When you see familiar faces
But you don't remember where they're from
Could you be wrong?

When you've been particular places
That you know you've never seen before
Can you be sure?

'Cause you know this has happened before
And you know that this moment in time is for real
And you know when you feel deja-vu

[Chorus:]
Feel like I've been here before
Feel like I've been here before
Feel like I've been here before
Feel like I've been here before

Ever had a conversation
That you realise you've had before
Isn't it strange

Have you ever talked to someone
And you feel you know what's coming next
It feels pre-arranged

'Cause you know that you've heard it before
And you feel that this moment in time is surreal
'Cause you know when you feel deja-vu

uhm.well im doing alot of research because im just a curious teenager and along with many theories, one i do not agree with is the fact that we're able to see what happens as a for of daja vu because when you have a conversation dejavu, you cant really tell what the person is going to say until they've said it and oinly then doe sit sound familiar to you.
theres so many theories but i believe in science, so the whole "brain sending two waves instead of one" seems really logical.
or we're all phsycic on some level.
dont know

Deja Vu is when you see something and you think you've been in the exact setting and saw that thing.
It's kinda hard to explain =/

Daja-vu is when god let something happen, but he didn,t like it,so he wipes out peoples memory and turns back time. Some people remember things and then they experience it again, that is daja-vu.

It is when your brain waves basically "miss a beat" and they do not sync together for a second. Because of this you are re-thinking everything that you just experienced. It makes it seem like you experienced it twice.
