my guppy has dropsy. I have no idea if his color changing is due to the drospy, or some other reason.(my filter back fired, clouding my water, only one of my fish got sick).

If the fish has dropsy you must kill it. There is no cure for full blown dropsy sorry. Dropsy itself is not contagious. It is a result of kidney failure and the fish bloats with its own waste. The kidney failure is likely from internal parasites or bacteria and that is contagious. If the dropsy fish dies in the tank the others will eat at it and get the same thing that caused the dropsy. It must be removed immediatly. Put him in a zip lock bag and put the bag into the freezer. He will simply fall asleep and die peacefully. Sorry it happens to the best of us.
