I don't mean more popular or musically better. But do you think what Elvis offered to R&R was more important than what the Beatles offered in terms of influence to this day?

There are too ways to look at it...

One answer would be: The Beatles, because they are more influential and have a lot more interesting and contributed a lot to rock and roll.

The other answer would be: Elvis, because he was one of the people the encouraged John Lennon to start the Quarrymen, and was the one who really broke the barriers and started all of rock and roll, hence the name, "The King of Rock and Roll".

Which ever you agree with...

both important in there own respective ways.

elvis brought it out, the beatles expanded upon it!

if want to get picky, i think the rolling stones brought REAL ROCK and ROLL out to the mainstream before the beatles.

the beatles were a teeny bopper band in the beginning, where as the stones came out rockin hard!

hell... even Dion and the Belmonts had more of an edge to their music than the beatles early stuff.

i guess they r both musically important and if not for the Beatles there would be no Elvis. The Beatles really infiltrated America and influenced the R&R era to where it is today, so to answer ur question, The Beatles.

The Beatles

Elvis was destroyed by his movies because Col Tom Parker thought it was a good idea.

He took too long out of the music spotlight and others were waiting to take over.

Do you really need to ask? The Beatles. They wrote their own songs and showed incredible range and diversity in their music.

I think they were equally important. They were both only a part that made up the whole. There were a lot of others right there with them.
