Watched the show growing up.
Own the series on DVD.
Yes I would live there despite living somewhere else in NC.
I'm a native North Carolinian and have been to the real Mayberry (actually it's Mt. Airy) many times for the festival each spring. If you really loved the show, come on down and enjoy the hospitality. We'd be thrilled to have you visit.

I did something similar when I was 19 and there wasn't enough work at my job to stay all day, they let me go around noon and I thought it would be a nice afternoon to shop a bit, find some fabric for an embroidery project. The November air was crisp and a few flakes were falling, not bad at all. I drove to the fabric store and there were a few flakes of snow and while browsing heard people say it was snowing. By the time I paid for my fabric, it was coming down heavy. I headed straight home, about 6 miles east of town and got to the first hill, had to pull over because a car was sliding left and right all over the road. Tried several times getting up the hill and would have to back down each time until a couple of men stopped and helped give a push to get me to the top. Never made that mistake again, and if I feel air that is crisp the same way it's a good sign we'll get significant snow.

I have seen every episode of The Andy Griffin Show and have eaten a pork chop sandwich from the snappy grill in Mount Airy. That is where the show was supposedly located.

Yes. I used to watch it all the time. It reminds me of my hometown. The population there was 326 when I moved away. It's very nice place.

It would be fun to have that kind of closeness. Sometimes Andy was kind of mean to Opie, though.
