Hamass ,Fatah and Hezbollah are all gangs working to control the political power by name of the God .Trust me look at their History that is full of blood and god has nothing to do with them.I think what Arab countries need is the education and democracy.

i think you are right about number 2. it is all about oil on all sides. this is including the west. religion is just being used as a distraction. you forgot to mention christians in these countries as well. why do people fight for power of a nation? for the benifits that come along with control over land. right now oil. before diamonds and gold. in another time it was for new land to call their own so they could make laws suitable for what they believe in. nothing more. with money comes power and control. this is the way of man and man's evil intentions.

Are you asking if we should divide the area by religion, giving each group a section for their own? It might work, as long as the shared sacred shrines were somehow managed for the safe use of all.

this is a great idea but I think its a bit more complex. We very likely work this angle as much as possible but just like Protestants vs Catholics. You couldnt likely say the US is protestant based on numbers because you have big regional differences between say southern baptists and say Metropolitan Community Church.
