Well, I believe the report contradicted itself on this; we can't change it, but it's urgent that we change it right away.
I think that some people are giving us a God complex; they have no idea of the power of Mother Nature. Did the dinosaurs drive SUVs? What caused the climate change in the 1200s that covered so much farm land with glaciers? The blacksmiths' forges? What caused the "year without a summer" in 1816 (summer frost and snow in New England), sailing ships? What caused the sudden onset of an ice age 71,000 years ago, campfires?
Somehow humans have survived.

Assuming it is not possible to slow or halt global warming, it just changes the focus of what needs to be done.

For example, if you live on the Maldives, 18 inches above sea level, you might want to learn ark building for fun and profit.

Similarly you might want to buy land in Canada to grow wheat, and oh yeah, do a better job of battening down for Cat 5 Hurricains, you are going to see a bunch of them.

So, you see, it really does not change the problem. Only the possible work-arounds.

Are u kidding? Don't you care for future generations? Maybe your future relatives? If you put yourself in their shoes, you would see yourself as a huge betrayer and cause of so much suffering. Global warming is happening and will continue to get worse, but we can help slow the effects and make them less drastic so that the world has a chance of survival.

Dream on. Global warming is going to strike a sight faster than you think. The average earth temperature has already risen 1 degree in the last 10 years. Another 3 degrees should see us well on our way.

It sounds like you've kind of missed the point of these reports... efforts to combat global warming will not produce immediate effects, but if we just continue along the way we have been, we will be making it worse.

It's like a diet for the planet, except that it's going to take decades to see any kind of results.

That's not what the report said--in fact the opposite

Specifically, what the report says is that global warming--to some extent --will be with us for a long time. But how serious it gets--and for how long--depends on what actions we take starting NOW.

Next time, strain yourself and read the whole story, not just the headlines.

Yes the newest reports show that it is the cycle of certain stars causes warming and the earth has been through this many times before. What no one is talking about is the fact the earth has rotated many times on it's Axe and causes instant freezing to different parts of the world that had been warm

Global Warming???

I don't know about you but whenever someone starts talking about something unpleasant like Carbon Dioxide and the end of the world, I think of something cool like a bunch of dudes in tuxedos with their faces like wolves. Kind of like scene from The Mask. That scene in the night club was awesome,

yeah
but its still a serious matter
even thought it is a normal thing that will be happening
across centuries
but that doesnt mean that we should ignore now
and stop taking it into consideration
we cant stop it
but still we can prevent it from happening faster
..................................
lets just live long and help our environment survive longer
its not only for our sake
but for the coming generations
...................................
dont like pressure urself about it
but just take it into consideration
GOOD LUCK
=)
