Honey: Because there is no such thing. Men are hardly ever sick, they do not carry the emotional baggage that women seem to carry, when something bothers them they simply deal with it and move on. Men are very basic in the way that they see life. Women on the other hand seem to do everything with their mouth: They talk about something that they are thinking about, they talk about it while they are doing it, and they will continue to talk about it after it is over. A woman's world is in her mouth. Men simply think of something, get to it, and reap the benefits without having to make a big splash. I am 41 and could lose a few pounds, could make more money, and perhaps could have a few more friends, but I feel just fine. I actually work out several times per week, I am well educated, I eat quite well, and know enough people. Surely, time passes, but so what? Should I talk about it more so that women think that I am actually going through something?
Sometimes a man realizes that he has a new itch in his system and that he would like to have a new adventure (business, fitness, travel). This is not a "crisis." This is who men really are: adventurers, risk takers, and always hungry for something more.
Women may see it as a crisis, but to men it is perfectly normal.
Cheers,
Mr. M on "mid-life crisis."

Speaking from experience, you don't realise it is a mid life crisis until afterwards, even when people are telling you your having a mid life, you think, really think that they are the ones with a problem.
BTW my mid life was hilarious, 2 years of non stop laughter. So it's not all affairs and alchohol. I got my old guitar out and joined a rock n roll band, thinking i was 18 again.

They don't admit it because they're too busy getting divorced, buying sports cars and learning to play the guitar!

No...seriously, it's like elderly people who say that they don't feel old, it is just their body that is failing them. Their spirit is still the same spunky, fresh, funny thing it used to be. I think denial is a defense mechanism. If they *do* embrace mid-life crisis it will mentally kill them.

I know a couple who did admit to it. I know many who have completely revamped their lives altogether. Yet never admitting to a mid life crisis. I think it is nothing more than pride.

Perhaps I'm going through it as I don't believe it exists. The only thing i do differently is ...... I don't ride my motorbike in the rain anymore!
Less of a crisis more of a drama. LOL! To be fiar with you when men reach middle age it goes either one of two ways.
1) You don't want to believe age is catching you up and you become more competitve than ever to keep the 'young guns' in their place.

2) You get to the stage of 'who cares' and discover new things in a laid back horizontal way.

Hope I'm number two. (Now that does sound bad in the wrong context).

Mid-life crisis for men has now been refered to as "Manopause" because it has medically documented that men do go through physical changes during their 40's and 50's.
