How can you work an offense around a SG playing Point Guard (also the best player)?
Question Details: At our HS we have a small student-run B-ball league with a $ reward to the best team; and this is my lineup:

SG Artu- 5'8''- No defense, offense= 3's G/F

Me- 5'10''- I'm the best player forced 2 play PG because no one else really has the handles or playmaking ability.

SF Trav 5'10''- Really athletic but kind of selfish on offense.

PF Lucio 6'1''- Good inside player, but tends to shoot too many midrange shots.

C Andrew 6'2''- Sucks offensively, can't make layups; ok rebounder. What I want to know is what offense can I run or what can I do offensively to get everyone involved, because I can get mine, but 1 guy doesn't win tournaments. open to anything:)

Try play post games for Lucio, don't let him shoot mid-range jumpers.
Don't set Andrew too much if he can't score.

If that Trav guy is athletic, set him up when he can score so he doesn't have to force situations and it doesn't require him to pass.

And set Artu up for open 3s.

If any of them have trouble scoring, you just take over the game.

Softcore response: Attack the basket. Have players constantly make cuts and set screens from the back side. Try to have your teammates always be moving and get the best shot possible. Looking at your roster looks like the last thing you want is for your SF, PF, and especially C to be posting up and taking mid range or fade away jumpers while everyone else is standing around. Just try to get lots of movement with good spacing in between players. It wouldn't hurt to force your C to practice making point blank put backs cause those are going to be his only shots.

Hardcore response: Check out some motion offense info that might make your head spin:

If you don't like the motion offense check out the rest of that coaches' clipboard site.
Personally I favor the Triangle Offense but it's pretty complicated. if you want to take a shot at it:

If you are playing organized basketball look at set plays. Do the guy who plays no defense a favor and play a zone on defense. How old are you guys? If your center is big / tall you can pass the ball to him in the post and have him pass to someone who cuts (Runs towards the basket). Have your athletic guy constnatly run towards the basket so he can get fouled alot and head to the free throw line.

In terms of offense just have run alot of pick and rolls for the center and powerforward and pick and pops for your shooters.

Get the SG and PF to share shots. You want to run the offense around yourself, so handle the ball, pass it, have the other player square up and then you attack the basket. Really you can win alot of ball games by just attacking hte basket. Look online for some set offenses to help open up your teammates.

Sounds like you should run what we do at our high school. WE run a motion offense and it is centered around a good shooting point guard and a 3 point shooting center(you can substitute a forward for center). Our team is going to make a run at districts so it is highly effective.

I in actuality accept as true with what @Tony Lamb stated, with one exception. It does sound such as you think of your strengths are you ball coping with and dribbling, and your velocity, which might truthfully factor to a PG, and it did sound such as you weren't as beneficial on your shooting, as you stated you have been good shooting. My in basic terms issue is your stat of being seventy 5% on mid variety photos and 40 5% of three's. in case your shooting possibilities have been that top, you would be an wonderful shooter, and in all probability be like Iverson and Wade, gamers who have been PGs and switched to SGs simply by fact they have been extra scoring orientated. issue is, that in case you look on the NBA leaders the superb option now, the league chief in FG % is Tyson Chandler at sixty 8.a million%, and he has a large lead on Dwight Howard who's at fifty seven.3%. maximum of their photos are close variety submit photos as they're the two centers. in actuality, if centers who play the superb option on the rim won't be able to shoot seventy 5% on close photos, there is not any way in hell you shoot seventy 5% on mid variety photos.
