It's our 1st one married also, but we're in our 40's (2nd one for both).
He also wanted a particular toy as a child & never got one, so that's what I'm getting for him....we're pretty corny that way!
I'd suggest something meaningful to him like that...a signed sports memorabilia item, or autographed concert poster. Take him to see a band he likes or out for dinner & a movie. Get a great bottle of wine or pricey bottle of his fave liquor.

I was recently married and what would I hope for? Well I believe my wife and I will have a wonderful after party, but if she bought something new to wear or some new lotions that would be fun. Beyond that, anything showing her love would be great.
On the other hand she left the jewlery magazine out for me.

give him something that tells about how you feel first of all a card than whatever it is that tells about the two of you
