You have a virus. It makes popup windows telling you to buy an anti-virus program, made by the people that wrote the virus and infected you. Do a system restore to the day BEFORE this started. System restore is launched from your Help and Support shortcut in the Start menu.

GOOD LUCK!

Use the browser FirefoxMozilla, never any pop ups on that browser.

Spybot isnt a virus remover. A free one is AVG available at www.grisoft.com

Go to trendmicro.com and download housecall. It's a free scan of your computer and will tell you how to get rid of the virus. If that doesn't work try adaware which gets rid of spyware. Both these solutions are free and effective.
Don't click on the ad or download anything from them - good luck.

well if you have norton , then they are trying to make you think that you are being affected and that you need to buy an upgrade or your program expired, and are trying to tell you to buy it again. you might have a virus, but the only way to get rid of them for a little while would be to delete the program that is putting those pop ups well up!
hope that helped!

A friend had this problem recently, I also tried Ad-Aware,Spy-bot, AVG, and others.
I would recommend to download HiJackThis, run and post on a good tech forum. Go to merijn.org to get Hijackthis. I use techsupportforum.com Creat an account and post the log file. It's free and their responses are timely and very good.

download AVG. also, make sure those popups are from your computer's security software. if not, then don't click on them. if you do, they might actually give your computer viruses. a great adware detecting program is ad-aware.
both AVG and ad-aware are FREE!
