If that makes you feel comfortable then thats completely fine. In the future you may want to share your relationships with your family, because at the end of the day your family should respect you for whatever choice or choices you make in your life.
Maybe that is what you are scared of, letting them down or having a relationship with someone they will not approve of.

don't worry about a thing. If you aren't comfortable with your family, then don't say a thing to them unless you need to. especially for this, about hot guys and girls. this isn't that serious so you can do whatever you want. I encourage you talking to your friends. This way, you can learn more about the guy or girl as well as getting other people's thoughts about the. however, when you get close, try to be careful. when you get a serious relationship with a boyfriend, then maybe you should start thinking about telling your family.

There's nothing wrong with that unless u want to tell them about that kinda stuff. If u do, then sit them down (I suggest starting with the family member ur closest to) and just say that u wish u talked more about things in ur life. They're ur family...they'll accept almost anything u say. Otherwise, then yeah just stick to friends if that makes u most comfortable.

Since when do family members have to know everything? Of course it's okay to just tell your friends...that's the way it is for most other people too.

Of course it's okay. You do what makes you feel comfortable. Some people are more open than others. I am 24 and am married but I never told my parents who I like or didn't like and no one ever thought any less of me:)

that's how i am.... for a while, i didn't even talk to my friends about that kind of thing, i just kept it to myself. because i was afraid that if they told the person i liked, i'd feel stupid and i'd be in a vulnerable position. but if you don't get out there and do your thing, you're never going to get anywhere.
i still think that it's weird talking to my fam about my love-life etc. but then again, i don't think that it's majorly important for your family to know who you think is hot. don't stress it
