I'm serious! Is there a difference in classification? Or is it jack sh*t?

'Dung' (generally) refers to what the larger animals leave behind them, ‘Droppings‘ would be for the smaller animals and birds. 'Poo' is more likely the word we would use in the company of small children to talk about the same thing.

Other words, such as 'faeces' is the medical / biological word ford the same thing, though there are others too, such as 'stools' ~ although I'm not sure whether that refers to 'solids' in themselves that we produce.

I many respects, the language (our choice of words) we choose to use has to do with the 'place / occasion' and a 'sense of decorum.'

There is a Section here in Questions on 'Etiquette,' which is different from 'manners,' but there are overlaps that relate to 'acceptable and unacceptable behaviour' ~ within circumstances.

Americans (generally) will use the 'Sh**' word quite freely when they speak (as do some English people), which is strange in a society where references to the 'toilet' are generally all but seemingly forbidden! For example, 'You cannot buy toilet paper in America.' You can, on the other hand, but 'Bathroom Tissue' ~ though behind the door of a room marked 'Bathroom' it is HIGHLY unlikely you'll find an actual 'bath.' Instead, you'll very very frequently and almost ALWAYS find an actual 'toilet.'

I rarely use the 'Sh**' word as I prefer to keep it and other swear words out of personal and general usage, because I think that the power of words has a value, and if it's used frequently, then is becomes devalued and has less of an impact on others when it's needed.

Also, there is a whole raft of other words to use and I'd prefer to use them because it expands the meanings of my thinking and feelings. And, it’s just so easy to fall into the trap of lazy banality of using the ‘easy words.’

Hope that this helps you!

Dung is the item itself, poo is the reaction to it and has been used as a figure of speech to represent it. Poo is the same thing "Phew" but just spelt differently. Does this mean that a certain bear smelt bad?
