Presidents of the United States have their own airplane (Air Force One, specially equipped to the President's specifications; there is also a back-up Air Force One), their own helicopter (Marine One), an official Presidential retreat (Camp David in MD), and a fund for redecorating the White House (usually given at the beginning of each new President's term). They get to design their own china and receive gifts from foreign dignitaries; these, however, must remain with the government, unless the President buys them.

In older times, the Presidents had their own yachts and special railroad cars as well.

It is fun to read of the different ways the Presidents re-decorated the White House. William Howard Taft, who, at 300 pounds, was our heaviest President, had to have a larger bathtub installed because he got stuck in the old one! Lyndon Johnson insisted on a shower that sprayed powerful jets of water--it was so powerful that when Richard Nixon, his successor, tried it, he wound up on the floor practically out of the shower! Mamie Eisenhower redecorated the private quarters in her own special shade of pink. FDR had ramps installed and made the elevator bigger to accomodate his wheelchair.

Someone does all of his reading and writing (and thinking) for him. He has someone watching to make sure he doesn't get around too many choking hazards like pretzels. He can get away with high crimes and misdemeanors and never fear impeachment (even with a Democratically controlled congress).

Then there's the normal stuff like the secret service, his own private chef, airforce one, the bowling alley in the basement (not that I think he's much of a bowler).

Nixon had a bowling alley installed in the White House.

The President can travel anytime it pleases him, for free.

He probably gets a daily meal stipend, as well.

He takes vacations whenever it pleases him.

However, he is no longer allowed to go hunting with DICK Cheney.
