Excellent question. I took the time to follow your link, but the webmaster appears to be on hiatus, though I did read his comments on the State of the Union address, so I have some ideas of what he considers important issues.
All in all, I would say I agree with many of them: health care is a prime concern, especially as the country ages. One aspect of the health care debate that I rarely see mentioned is to change the focus of health care from treating illness to wellness. If people would go to physicians and get a sensible diet/exercise program tailored to their individual needs, they would be less likely to get sick or succumb to chronic debilitating conditions.
Another concern I have is our economy. If we continue to import more goods than we export, our money is transported overseas, and is in the hands of people of other nations. The trade deficit with China is particularly worrying. What if they decided to call in the loans they have made us, or if they switch from dollars to euros for paying their bills? If our dollar declines sharply in value against other international currencies, it could result in hyper inflation over here and possibly a depression as people cannot find jobs (all outsourced) and cannot pay for necessities. Our ability to wage war on terror would be impaired; we wouldn't have the money to pay for the programs.

The most important political issues facing America today are:
1. Corruption of the GOVT
2. Stupidity of the ppl
Terrorism is JUST a byproduct of the two.
Economic deterioration is JUST a byproduct of the two.
Unless another FDR appears on the screen to reign in the exploiters and cronies USA will have wide spread poverty, oppression and crime.
Unfortunately, I do not see a change in course.
The flag ship of USA is the U.S.S. Titanic.
USA is like the ROME Empire at its last throes.

Health care, or rather the lack of it. There are 45 million people in a country of 300 million that do not have access to affordable health care. The hidden cost to the taxpaying public are tremendous. It is also a health of the nation issue. We are the highest paying nation for our health care. That's right number 1 and yet we rank 14 in quality of care. This is absurd in the richest nation on earth.

Depends on what you consider important: education, medical, homelessness, medicare, etc. For me, the most important issue facing America is the next presidental elections. Will we have two female presidental nominees, or just one? Or, will they be regulated to VP role? How will the votes come down, Democratic, or Republican?

The "Ponzi Scheme" known as Social Security and government fiascos like Medicaid and Medicare.
These programs alone will bring us to our financial knees like no other. Wait until the Baby Boomers have all retired. Low interest rates have softened the blow recently, however, assuming greater debt loads (to fund these white elephants), in addition to higher interest rates, will lower the standard of living for all for generations to come.
Congressional spending is despicable. It is never enough.

Asside from the unacceptable war in Iraq I would say that affordable medical care would be very near the top. Unfortunately at election time some may want to talk issues but others, who know they are wrong, will just do name calling.

Education is the most important issue, even if you stack it up against the war on terror.
