You know those things? They're like a black and white striped board, and when they do a take, they snap the the top down and.... what are they called?

Movie Clapboard. Also clapper board, scene slate, or a production board.

They're called clapboards.

The sound they make will help the editor sync the audio track to the visuals. And the chalkboard area contains info on the take, scene, reel, etc.

its called a "Clapper" its use to synchronize the sound and picture together when editing
