Alright looking to upgrade my vid. card with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814161017. The old card is PCI bus with 256 mb. memory. My system is a 2.8 ghz. CPU 1gb. RAM (upgrading to 1.5 with new card) How much better performance do you think i will get out of this new card gamewize? The old card handles CS:S with average 30 fps but looking to play better games such as BF:2 and F.E.A.R. with better frame rates. Dont have a PCIe x16 slot just the x1. Ty for your opinion.

Newegg only has one PCIe x1 card, being this, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814161017 assuming that is what you mean... meh. I don't really have anything to compare it too, what was your old PCI card. Generally speaking it would probably be a shade better than any PCI card but look at it this way, they don't make any of the decent video cards for PCI or PCIe x1.

I'm also assuming that you are accurate in stating that you do not have a PCIe x16 slot or any other type of graphics slot... AGP... and if that IS the case then I would ask why you purchased such a system to begin with, it was not designed with gaming in mind.

Sure, the PCIe x1 Radeon X1300 will probably get you through those games, barely. I started out playing them on a Radeon X1600 and I found the frame rates to be too low for my tastes in resolution, I quickly found myself getting two Geforce 7600GS cards and running them in SLi.

I just upgraded to Vista and nvidia doesn't have SLi drivers yet for Vista so until they release their 8 series, I will be using a Radeon X1650XT which I hear isn't half bad, it's just to tide me over.

About the best you can do is a Radeon x1300. www.tomshardware.com, still not really a good video card. You didn't mention what you use to have (using now).
You might want to consider getting a newer computer.
