You have the XP one set as your active partition, meaning that BIOS will look there for your OS. To boot solely from 98, you're going to want to go to

Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Expand "storage" to the right>Disk Management

and right click the other hard drive/partition you want to boot off of and select "mark partition as active" (active and primary partition is the same thing) *****************Try not to use this, though, because its a bit sloppy and doesn't sound like it's your best bet, because it sound s like you tried to set up a dual boot, in which you would be prompted each time to choose which OS you want to use.***************** The best way would be to start over and install '98 first on your primary partition, and then install windows XP on a different partition (On your other disk I'm guessing?) when prompted about that, and XP should recognize that another OS is installed and should set up the startup menu to offer it as an option for booting (which it should already be doing). You'll have to make sure that all your data you want to use with '98 is formatted FAT 32 or lesser, because XP uses NTSF, but '98 cannot.

Make sure that your HD is connected properly and the computer recognizes it first, thought, because, as I've said, XP should be giving you the choice already.

And finally, XP is superior in every way to 98 and there really isn't too big a reason to dual boot unless XP is broken, which by the sound of it, it isn't. So if you can, just solely use XP.

Good luck!

You need to go into your bios, (either F1 or delete during start-up) then you need to look for a command called "boot sequence" or "boot order". Now, your main hard drive will be listed as hdd0, and your second one will be listed as hdd1. Considering that each company's bios is a little different, you need to figure out how to tell bios to look at hdd1 before it looks at hdd0. Save changes and reboot. That should do it.
