You can get an iranian or any penpal from any part of the world in a minute. I have several, one of which is from Iran and another from Ghana.
This website has students from every country including Sudan so you would have direct contact with the people and how life truly is without the bias of the media.

My penpal from Iran has really shown me new perspectives, that women love their veil though they don't agree with the government forcing them and they wish that they would practice Islam correctly.
They are really insightful.
Hope you find a good contact

Typical academic...you want to research without offending anyone !!What about wanting to arrive at truth & justice ?
You speak about Dafor...are you going to run the risk of inviting the wrath of the Muslim world by telling the truth of what is happening in that part of the world ? Show some courage & backbone & if you are going to research these subjects start out with the premise that truth will be your objective , no matter what !

Not from the middle east, but I read a middle-eastern woman wrote about her life in Afganistan and how she had to fight to get over to America and all. It's called Behind the Burqa. It's very good.

they have the right to remain silent and anything they say will be used against them depending on who's listening. They have the right to run to avoid any physical violence. Not a very good place right about now.
