Black people historically have been under-represented in the popular culture, as black people have gained the power/money to promote their art, music, theater, it has become successful and therefore more in the forefront of our traditional culture. The American culture is changing because of this and true integration is happening. We are no longer a white culture, we are a melting pot of all the color spectrum; lines have been not only crossed but eliminated. No it is about time blacks and other people of color are being seen in today's popular culture as enterprising, talented, creative, intelligent, rich and successful, out there with all they have to give America and the world.

yes, what bugs me more is the type of Black people that are presented. Most black guys are not like 50 cent (clown) or lil Jon. We need more exposure for the likes of Mos Def.

what makes you ask?
if all you see on your television are black shows, movies, commercials, etc...your set is tuned to BET. check your preview guide and you will see lots of different channels catering to different demographics.
i hope this has been helpful.

You and I know that's an understatement....

The mass media portrays the American black culture and all it's glory to the general public every chance they get. And so far, there propaganda machine is working. White people are confused everywhere. The media diminishes any sense of white pride, and goes so far as to infect the entire public with, for lack of a better word, something known as white guilt.

It makes me sick......
