If you can get to the connections on the current switch, you can use that to access the opener. You can purchase a replacement receiver and transmitter at a lot of places. I bought my last set at Sears. They are often used to upgrade a current wireless system for the newer, more secure technology.

You simply connect the new reciever's output to the current wall switch. Plug it into a power outlet and you are fine.

It does not have to be the same brand if you can access the connections on the current switch. That is the key to the solution.

It depends.
A proprietary brand like Overhead Door will require products from Overhead Door.
Genie and Chamberlain parts are available at Home Depot and Lowe's. Craftsmen parts are available at Sears.
Google the Make and Model Number. Find the operators manual and see if it is wireless capable. If it is you only need to buy the appropriate remotes and program them.

If your opener is not wireless capable you will need to buy a Universal Wireless adapter and as many matching remotes as you want. You will attach the adapter to the connections on the opener that run from your wired buttons and the safety switch. Put batteries in the remotes, program them and you're set.

If you want to put a wireless remote on the wall outside of the door, their are universal versions of these, too. But you will need the wireless adapter first.
