I've heard that you can set your utencils crossing and facing up meaning that you're not satisfied. Yet if they are crossing and facing down then you were satisfied with your meal. What is the proper etiquette on this

If you're done with your meal, you're supposed to line up your fork and knife in parallel at around 4 o'clock. If you are not done, have the fork at 8 and the knife at 4. I'm not sure about how you line up utensils based on your satisfaction of the meal. Why not just tell the waiter if you have an issue with your meal?

Just leave them on the plate and leave a tip if the service was good. There is no point in leaving hidden messages using the knives and forks as the waitress is just doing her job and trying to clear the table quickly for any potential customers while still making sure Bob in the corner gets a coffee refill. Now a knife through a plate sticking into the table it is on is a sure sign that your eggs were runny, the toast burned the coffee cold and that you will not be back there again as a customer but that could also result in the fact that you will be dining on the taxpayer at the local county jail for 30 days too. Leave your tip based on service and leave by the door you entered without passing gas on your way out.

I went to an etiquette school which taught me to take my fork and knife face up and place on the plate at the 4 o'clock position. That indicates when you are finished. The fork turned down across the top of your plate on the with knife across the top of the plate on the left indicates you are pausing, or that you do not want your plate removed. These indicators were created for the King of England and were instituted so that the staff waiting on him did not have to directly speak to him. The reason for the pause indicator is due to the King not wanting to have his plate taken away from him until all of his guests were finished.

You should place your fork facing down across your knife. The crossing of the knife and fork should be at the position of 4:20 on a clock.

you are suppose to put them in your plate with your nipkin aos the waiter will know that you are finished with your meal.

i was taught just to leave them at 4:00 facing up.

IF your still hungry..order more food...and keep your fork stupid....if your full put it in the bowl and tell the waitress to take this slope on...duhhh
