i own a repair shop, and there is a difference in the two, both plugs are good ,but the platinum plug with stands heat a lot better and last a lot longer, and will fire under severe conditions like flooding and so -on,they also fire well when cold ,and start better in cold conditions, a lot better than copper ones do,i have used both types, and i prefer that platinum over the copper any day ,i have them in all my personal vehicles, and wouldn't use anything but those, good luck i hope this help,s.

I would just go with what your car requires. It will save you money, and you don't really need much more spark than you already have, unless you are running a race prepped Taurus, like a SHO or something.
Just keep with the manufacturer specs as far as tune-ups, and you'll do fine with the regulars.

Although platinum will technically perform slightly better and last longer, the difference in your old car will certainly not be something you will notice.
save your money and use standard plugs
