That is a complex issue. You really need to do your own research on the topic, but here is a little bit of info

The end of WW1 put alot of harsh reperations on Germany. The country could not afford to pay them off, and when the Great Depression hit, they suffered even more. This suffering allowed Hitler to gain power. people were desperate for a solution and scapegoats.

Imperialisms was another cause, and the primary reason that Japan entered the war.

Yes, the previous answer was the camel that broke the camel's back - that is, when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor the United States became involved.. But we were heading into war prior to that. Germany and allies Japan and Italy were a threat for a long time prior to that. World War II actually began when Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939.
