For the past 2 weeks, my dreams have been horrible. I usually wake up from dreams that contain Ghosts and Murders, but lately, I sleep right through them and finish the dream. I usually dream that I end up in a place that is spooky like a haunted house where the spirits are still there and they are trying to kill my family. Last night I had a dream that I was on a house boat and there was a couple living there in hiding who murders people with axes. But all my dreams end up with me defeating whoever's after us. I never dream about things like this, this is the first time in my LIFE that I have been like this.
I'm 14 weeks pg. What's going on? Have you guys seen the Omen...I'm scared.

I never watch scary movies because I'm a scardy cat and these dreams are so detailed, I could make a movie out of them.

My dreams during pregnancy are the same way. (I'm 9 weeks) I made a journal of good movie ideas out of the dreams from my last pregnancy. I think this is yet another thing you can blame hormones for!

Pregnancy brings on a number of hormones that the body does not usually have and thoughts of your baby to be also affect your dreams. I can tell you that because you dreamt of a house boat your subconscious is detaching you from your old way of life (pre pregnancy and parenting) to your new way of life. (I have a very detailed dream book and this is what it says). Yes, I have seen the Omen, and I too was a little freaked out about the dreams I was having, but it is just your mind's way of "out with the old, in with the new". Good luck, and don't worry, your dreams right now have no real significance, they are just mentally preparing you for baby.

I have had this happen to me too and it is really unnerving. Dreams are so vivid and unusual. I did the following and got a much better nights sleep with no nightmares/ try it, it will work!
- Don't watch any TV a good two hours before you go to bed. Read, bake a cake, or write a letter or anything else.
- Have a warm bath
- Don't drink anyting with caffeine in eg Coffee, Tea before you go to bed. Have a milky drink or hot chocolate/milk shake.
- Buy a relaxation or meditation book. I got one for preganacy by Marie Mongan 'Hypnobirthing'. This gives you short eg ten minute relaxations to do in bed.
Try some of the above and hopefully the nightmares will reduce or stop.
Good luck. It really is nothing unusual so don't worry.

i am currently pregnant but i am not having the nightmares as often as maybe you are having them. but there was once when i had a really bad dream during my first trimester of pregnancy. i dreamt that i already gave birth but then a week after was killed in a massacre and i could really see how the gun was shot at my head and how i collapsed to the floor seeing blood stream down. i could remember talking to my husband (i believe i was already a ghost then) and i was telling him to take good care of our baby. i woke up from that bad dream crying very hard. i wasn't at ease so i tried to look it up on the net what my dream meant. it was good to know that the interpretation for my dream was that i was expecting a new beginning, something to change in my life. i guess my expecting a child is that new beginning as my family life will be different with the addition of a baby and all that.

I've seen The Omen. Interesting movie.
Nightmares (or very strange dreams) during pregnancy are common. I used to have them almost every night ranging from nightmares about ghosts to about my baby being some random, freak child...
It's due to the crazy hormones running through our bodies. Try to learn more about dreams and try to become lucid during your next dream. You'll instantly be able to control your dreams, the characters, the outcome...

I have seen the movie Omen. I currently been expereince nightmares also...dont let the dreams get to you..i know they get scary and etc but just let it go because if you keep worrying about the dreams then you are goign to put stress on you and thats not good for the baby. If you are concern about dreaming, talk to your doctor about it!

Vivid dreams in pregnancy are VERY common. I have the craziest dreams as well. Keep in mind that your subconcious is playing out your worst fears during sleep and this helps keep you sane. There's nothing in your dreams that can hurt you, just shrug them off when you wake up. Your dreams will return to normal after you have the baby.

I was having the same thing... the doctor said its because all the hormones and what not. also, he said that dreams reflect what you are feeling throught the pregnancy, so if you are feeling nervous you will have dreams that make you nervous, same thing for happy, scared, emotional.. ect.... but he also said try some chamomile tea before bed, it will relax you, and get you in a happy state.. then you go to sleep and think of happy things.... it helped with me!
Click the link below, it talks about it...

I went thru the same thing, and my dreams stopped for awhile, but they came back when I got closer to delivering :(
I think it's just a hormonal thing, plus, you've got so much more on your mind that your body processes while your sleeping.
It sure sucks :(
