That depends upon the requirements of the state that you're in.
In Oregon, you need a bachelors degree - so 4 years (usually). Many colleges offer a dual-program which allows you to get a BS in Education and a Teacher's Certificate. I'm just now completing a Masters Degree (2 years in addition to my 4 year BS in Engineering that I earned in 1994) to teach High School.
So, you'd need your usual K-12 years (13 years), plus 4 years of college for 17 years.

You don't get just a Kindergarten credential. You get K-6 credential that allows you to teach Kindergarten and other grades. As the previous people already said, you need a BA or BS + a teaching credential. In California you would need a Bachelor's in any field but education (although you could take some courses that apply to education, such as child psychology and children's literature) plus a multiple subjects teaching credential, which would take you between 1 and 2 years.

It depends if you already have a degree or not. If you already have a bachelors or even an associates, you could probably get a degree in education in 2 or 3 years. Its hard to get one done in less than that b/c there are so many core teaching courses and student teaching semesters that you have to get in. If you just have a high school degree, it will take you 4 years to get a education degree.
