My favourite at the moment is 'Boy' from 1980 - the opening riff on 'Into The Heart' is amazing! What in your opinion is their best album?

I love Rattle and Hum and the Joshua Tree. Both of these albums are amazing.

War. The album of a hard-working, passionate bunch of idealist youths making the best minimalist record of the decade while still experimenting with different sounds. Much unlike the over-the-top bleeding heart consumerist excess that typified their work from Joshua Tree onward. Not to say Joshua and Achtung Baby weren't good discs, but their slick overproduction wallpapered over the raw emotional power the band showed on War.

I never liked U2, until they released Achtung Baby. That album was incredible, and was very happy that U2 finally had the guts to experiment with their sound. Now I can't get enough of them, though out of the stuff before Achtung Baby, I only like their singles. During the Achtung Baby period they released great b-sides, like Salome, Lady With The Spinning head, and my all time favourite, their cover of Cole Porter's "Night & Day"

Achtung Baby

They came off JT and being the biggest band in the world to create something TOTALLY different from everything they've ever done. JT is great and the last two are right up there, but AB really, in my opinion, is the band at their peak. Live, these songs come to life, like Mysterious Ways with the whole belly dancer thing. Its been 15 years, and I never get tired of hearing any of those songs.

I'm going to make an unconventional choice......Rattle and Hum.....

U2 isn't, and never was, among my favorite bands. I thought Joshua Tree was a terrible. god awful, album....and just as I was about to write them off as a light weight immitation Clash....they released Rattle and Hum. This album really impressed me because it show cased how much they understood rockabilly...blues...honky tonk..etc. When love comes to town was so good, i;d just assumed it was written by BB king. This was an amazing album that really changed how I saw them. It's really the only U2 album I still play frequently.

I say The Joshua Tree, and who are you to assume that the girl who first answered your question isn't a big U2 fan just because she answered The Joshua Tree? It's all about opinions and looking at the other answers, plenty of folk, myself included agree with her.If you're any kind of a man, you'll apologise to her.As for your answer, not my personal choice, but unlike you,i respect other opinions.

I like Achtung Baby. I love all the songs on it. They all seem to flow together. Some of the words songs have profound meaning to me. Especially Acrobat and Who's going to ride your wild horses. The songs touch me emotionally and spiritually. Bono's voice is marvelous and pair that with the Edge's guitar- a beautiful union. I have almost worn out my disc and the cover is cracked and scratched. I need to buy a new one soon. U2 rocks.

If I can't get into a album by the 3rd listen then my sister gets it for free,
so far she's managed to get 5 u2 cd albums from and 2 tapes.
they're a poor band that doesn't excite me, sorry
