The Monarchy symbolizes the class system, which has a cruel history and is still evidently present in some quarters of British society.
I cannot except how a family by accident of birth can be placed above the average British citizen, especially as they are a bunch of interloping Germans and Greeks without a drop of Celtic blood in their veins unlike most of their true British subjects.
It is about time Britain shrugs off its medieval past and enters finally a future of equality and modernism.

If the Queen dies her eldest son (Prince Charles) automatically becomes King - in that respect the monarchy will continue.
It's more likely that public pressure and changing attitutes will see the monarchy come to an end although I can't see that happening for a long time.
Worldwide the monarchy is very much respected and there's no political advantage to disbanding the monarchy. Maybe in the future things will change.
As for being tired of the Royals - some people love them, some hate them. Others like me aren't all that bothered.

I know there's a lot of anti monarchists here on Yahoo Answers but I've read stuff that said 70% of the British support the monarchy, even my two penpals from England do and one of them is broke! So I think that the British monarchy can survive another century or two. Heck, they may be the only monarchy alive and well at the end of the world:)

Global Warming does not care if England has a Queen. Saying "God save the Queen" means nothing to the Global Warming. The British will not survive another century because England will be under the sea when the Polar ice melts completly.

Yes I honestly do. With Prince William and Prince Harry. They will be fine. Prince Charles as well.
My parents are from Britian and we all believe the Monarchy will be alright. Its changed a lot in the past years. I believe the people are NOT tired of the Royals, but tired of the trash they have to read by media that won't leave them alone to do their Royal Duties.

it relatively is conceivable some international places might desire to prefer to ditch the monarchy whilst Prince Charles is crowned. He shouldn't take any u . s . with no attention. i might think of the united kingdom might shop him even nonetheless traditionally King Charles have not completed o.k. as a monarch. fortuitously his son and daughter-in-regulation are somewhat well-known that can propose the commoners will settle for Charles understanding that William would be King quickly. as long simply by fact the monarchy would not stuff up relatively undesirable they might desire to be waiting to stay to tell the story slightly longer.

Yes, I do. The British people have a respect for tradition, and the monarchy is a part of that. Even if by now its just a decoration.

Probably, but in a more reduced capacity than before. The royal family in many respects have become something of a white elephant and could use a serious housecleaning and take a style more similar to say the Danish or Dutch royal families.

Of course!!! It is the tradition in England. When you start killing the traditions in a country, you start altering the culture and the whole institution suffer. Should the monarchy be updated and the royal functions, rights and obligations should be revised to fit the modern world? Yes, but, they have been doing it!

The monarchy is dead, politically.
What will happen to all the tabloid magazines in Britain and the US if it does not survive? More alien sightings, Bigfoot, Virgin Mary appearing on English muffins...?
