I am replacing the tailgate handle.

I believe that once you remove the outer panel (that says "Chevrolet" on it) and the handle's bezel then it's pretty basic. There will be two rods attached to it that release the left and right latches. Just disconnect the rods before removing the old handle. If you still need a diagram call your local Chevy dealer's parts department and they can fax you an exploded view of the tailgate assembly.

I would get a Haynes Repair Manual at a automotive parts shop. Call and ask what the price is (make sure you add tax to the total price) and then check the internet. Or you can go by and check the books out. A lot are open and just open a truck book and if the schematic is there then there should be one on your truck book.

i own a repair shop,and i don't know of any on the net that are any good,what i always do is purchase a good Haynes repair manual it should have a blow up of all the components of it in there,i use them in my shop ,because all the information in them is always accurate,and that's important when tearing anything apart,good luck with it,i hope this help,s.
