I dont know about that. I had my son fitted for shoes at about 3 months at stride rite and I keep him in shoes, I have also had him in a walker since he could hold his head up.

I did things he wanted to do and he enjoyed standing. He loves his shoes too lol good chew toys!!

You know your baby better than anyone else.

Wearing shoes w/ hard soles can affect the way their feet grow, because babies tend to walk on the outside of their feet at first and this can cause the shoes to wear on the sides. I was told to use soft flexible shoes. As to the standing, it doesn't really cause bowleggedness, but there have been cases of babies who like to bounce alot that have actually fractured bones in their feet and toes because they get so excited that they can bounce while standing, so they do it a lot, which causes the stress fractures. Simply encourage your baby to stand properly, don't force the issue, but I stand my 6 week old up and she loves it, plus it helps her burp, lol. But you know your child best, so if s/he likes it, go for it, just use caution. Good luck!

It will not make them "bow-legged" and it is NOT "good for their muscles"...

Your baby needs a chance for all the muscles and tendons in his feet, ankles, calves to develop in a natural way. By placing shoes on his feet, it is not allowing the muscles needed for balancing a fair shot at developing, which could slow his progress and strength when starting to walk.

Letting your child practice standing IS EXACTLY what he needs to begin developing his walking, balancing, and standing skills. Just be sure that you aren't putting emphasis on his wearing shoes before doing so. But if you're out at a park or a friends house where shoes are a good idea for his own safety, and he's trying to stand, it's not enough to do any kind of damage, it's fine.

Also, as a new mom you are soSO SOOO susceptible to all the B.S. wives tales out there that people volunteer in your helpless direction, it is so scary what I come across on here when people are doling out advice!!! You never know if they themselves are a parent, who they talk to or what they're subjecting their kids to. May I suggest when it comes to your baby, to look at actual books and talk to your baby physician when you have these kinds of questions and even then get more than one opinion.

You sound like you're doing a wonderful job being observant about your baby's health, for god sake, don't come here for advice! I'm appalled at what I've read so far. lol.

I am a mom and I was paranoid I was doing something wrong all the time, then my own mom decided to chime in and I thought "oh hell no, I have a dozen complaints on the way you handled Sh*t, lady..." so I went searching for my own answers at the clinic and in the pregnancy/ development books and found that my mom wasn't the only person misinformed. And remember if you have certain things that you find work for your child, go with it, no one on this earth, no matter how many kids they have, is a better expert on YOUR child than you.

At that age, she's nowhere on the point of strolling or maybe crawling. they're basically for practice. I not in any respect afflicted putting shoes on my children except we were going out and it change into chilly outdoors. It felt strange to in uncomplicated words have socks on a baby even as it change into 30 tiers outdoors. once your newborn begins to stroll, then the most perfect element is to have them positioned on no shoes. At this age, shoes are like upload-ons. They serve no purpose then to look lovable.

Helping s/him stand up will not hurt them at all it will only help build muscles in their legs. As for the shoes you should make sure that they are the soft bottom ones that will allow s/his feet to grow and allow s/him to more their toes freely. This is what my pediatrician told me because my daughters feet turned in and I thought it was my fault for helping her stand up before she could on her own and she is not bow legged she is just flat footed. Don't worry about what everyone tells you unless it makes sense. You are the parent and the ultimate decision maker here.

My mom used to say the same thing--claiming the baby would be bow-legged. I think it is just a wives tale bc I held my kids up at 3 and 4 mths old, letting them walk and even put them in a walker at 4 mths old---they are fine.

Supposedly, you shouldn't make your little ones wear shoes before they actually need them because the babies are still developing and if you are putting things on their feet for no reason then it could hurt their feet. And when they do get older, make sure to check their shoes often and that they have the proper fit.

This is a myth about the standing. I never put on tight shoes for long periods of time on babies they need to strech out their feet but for short periods of time it will not harm them.

No and actually its good for their muscles. Some people think that letting them stand early can cause bow leggedness, but it doesnt. If you put shoes on your baby just make sure they are light weight. :)
