I need to glue two pieces of paper together, one directly on top of the other. What type of glue or adhesive would work the best and would not cause crinkling and malformation that is caused by generic white glue. Thank you.

Glue stick. It's easy, less messy than white glue, and does not create lumps or crinkles.

Scrapbooking adhesives are great. Use a glue tape. It's a little more expensive, but will do exactly what you're looking for.

If you use white glue, first look through your junk mail for a credit card that some company has sent you, and use this to smoothe out the glue.

Spray adhesive, when used correctly, is a very neat, clean way to do it. Placed carefully, it's not SO adhesive that you can't adjust the placement, until you really press it together firmly.

I would use rubber cement, it has a brush, so you can get to the edges.start in the middle, and do both pages, then they will stick, but you will have to be careful to get the edges to match. so when gluing, start at one end.
