Yes, i have heard of Pandora's Box. But it was not evil creatures she let out, it is all those evil feeling that we experiance everyday, sadness, anger, hostility, fear. The one thing according to legend that mythology teachers forget to tell is that the one thing left on the bottom of pandoras' box remained...Hope.
But, also, according to legend the box was once opened and pandora had to re-open the box to put all the evil back into its place. It was a "special gift" given to her by promethesis.

Pandora is the equivalent in Greek Mythology as Eve in the bible. They were both placed in, the seed of curiosity. If your curiosity gets the better of you, your innocence has nothing to do with it. If you open the box, you pay the consequensces, or the world does.
As the saying says, "Curiosity kills the cat".

I know it sounds dumb but Laura Croft Tomb Raider, I think it was the second movie, had a storyline about it. If you've seen it you might remember. It would be based off of stories about the box. Try the history channel web site.
I think maybe it was a way to retell the story of Eve eating the forbidden fruit.

Panadora was given a box and told not to open it. She could not stand not knowing what was inside so she opened it to look. Inside were all of the world's evils and troubles which excaped when she opened the box.
Because she could not curb her curiousity she released all the evil into the world

I think Pandora is innocent. She was basically set up to do what she did. It was Zeus's way of getting back at humans since Prometheus gave them fire. Pandora was married to Epimetheus who was Prometheus's brother. Each of the gods and goddesses gave Pandora a gift. One of them gave her curiosity. She couldn't help herself and Zeus knew she'd open the box. That was Zeus was able to get his revenge indirectly.

Curiosity kills the cat... She opened the box so she is definitely guilty. But I guess anyone would have done it. So cant blame her...
