Alcohol is absorbed primarily in the small intestine (some along the way though). It passes from the small intestine into the blood stream and then is transported with the blood throughout the body. A small amount leaves the body through the kidneys as urine, and some is exhaled through the lungs (why breathalyzers can tell how much alcohol is in your blood stream). The vast majority however, is chemically broken down in the liver

Alcohol is absorbed in the stomach without digestion. Having a meal in your stomach slows the process. It travels through the blood stream to all parts of the body. It is metabolised eventually by the liver. Sometimes if someone has had alot to drink you can smell the alcohol coming out of his lungs into his breath.
