Easiest way is to download the upgrade advisor and run it. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/buyorupgrade/upgradeadvisor.mspx

Aero won't be as fast with yoru vid card as DX10 cards but it should be ok. Not too bad for a middle of the road machine.

256 is the minimum recommended vid memory for all versions of vista except basic.

My Vapochill LS cooled E6700@400mhz bus(yes thats 4ghz, and 1600mhz fsb, although mem is only at 2/3) on an EVGA 680i SLI with 8800gtx, 2gb GeIL 1066, 2x150gb raptors and a few other toys runs vista business quite well, but my P4 3.4(only 4ghz with my ancient swiftech water block on it, used to run a hair over 5ghz with the vapochill on it though) with an X1900xtx is notably less responsive. I'm not sure if it is the difference between DX9 and DX10 on aero, or simply the raw processing power, but my p4 rig only runs at 1680x1050 and it is MUCH more choppy than my conroe rig which always run 1920x1080.

Vista had quite a number of motive force subject matters because it grow to be remodeled with a twin kernel gadget. An inner kernel for the OS and applications and an outer kernel for contraptions. This gave the application and hardware distributors subject matters in tremendous percentage. One Nvidia pics card motive force has better lines of code than the XP operating gadget does. many of the application and drivers have stuck up with Vista.that is amazingly usable compared to three years in the past. Having a sixty 4 bit operating gadget is wonderful.swifter execution and no 4GB memory barrier. flow for it. I have residing house windows 7 sixty 4 bit and that is solid and quickly.it ought to quite be out retail in about 6 months.
