For about a week the cd-rom on my computer has been making loud noises and then it opens by itself. I close the cd-rom and it opens by itself again. This happens about 3 or more times. Other than that it works fine. I checked my computer for viruses and it doesn't have any. So why does the cd-rom open up by itself?

Dust..or something grounding out the connection. Open the case, blast it out with compressed air. Make sure power is disconnected...
Hope that helps.. it did for me.
Oh! and make sure ALL connections ARE connecting...

Yes it sounds like it is going

Reasons for it to open could be that something inside is getting stuck or sticking that is causing the tray to open
