I would never throw a book away unless it was physically unreadable. One person's trash is another person's treasure. Any book I don't want anymore I donate to the library.

I bought the book "Wicked" by Gregory Maguire after listening to the music for the Broadway show. I thought it would be the same thing, but I was wrong. It had some nice colour pictures from the show, but, yeah, the story itself was rubbish. Out it went.

No, I never have the heart to throw away a book, no matter how "crappy" it is... leave it on a park bench, or just recycle it...people have different tastes, what you think is rubbish may be the best book someone else has ever read...have a look at amazon.ca book reviews..you'll know what I mean :)

It happened also once to me that I bought a book which turned out to be so bad I couldn't possibly inflict it on anybody else. So I threw it into the trash. I don't even remember the author. So I sympathize.
Normally I just donate unwanted books to the library.

I've never thrown away a book I had just bought, but that's probably because I don't buy books unless I've read them and want to read them over and over, if I don't I just go to the library.

I threw away some damaged weight watchers recipe books but generally speaking no I don't think I've even thrown an old book away, like you I normally give them away.

I usually drop it in the return bin at the Public LIbrary. Let them decide what to do with it.

Our library takes donations also. If they can't use it they put it in their annual book sale run by friends of the library. This money is used to help in many ways where the tax dollar doesn't

No. If I buy a book and don't like it, it goes out on my next garage sale or I would give it to someone. Donate it to the library or a goodwill type store, someone out there will probably like it. After all, someone liked it enough to publish it. lol

Yes I have. It's better for the world if we throw away poorly written books - why inflict them on anyone else?
