Personally i've had the chance to use sony, toshiba, acer, apple compaq and benq. Acer is affordable and great to use, toshiba has great durability i once spilled a 1 liter coke on my keyboard and it still worked. Sony's are a bit over priced and overated but they have great products no doubt. Compaq is great too, but it's under hp now so at least you know u can rely on it. Currently i'm tryin out Benq and i love it, it's the cheapes laptop i've ever had, i've carried it to uni, travelling and everywhere with me, so far it's been perfect, it's light, battery last a long time, i've installed a lot of applications for my IT projects as well as games and it works perfectly well.
So it's really up to you. At the moment i'd love to have an apple. But most Games are for PC's only aren't they? i guess u better check out wat system requirements are needed to run the games u like first. Doesnt matter what brand you purchase, just make sure it's gonna be durable, the processor is good enough to run all the applications u need, the battery doesnt die on u (as sony does, both my sony viaos the battery died after a year), the battery's stand by time, consider the graphic card that will be need to run the games u're playin.
To make your decision making easier, get a magazine that has review about the laptops you're interested in purchasing. Make sure u read through the specification coz u won't want to regret what you bought.

Well I have a great experience with Compaq Desktops and I do not really like them. They seem to always get messed up in a very short time. I have also heard that all Dell computer have a lot of problems as well, if I was going to go with anything I would go with the Apple, sure your going to spend some more money but it will be worth it.
Hope That Helps!

in my opinion i admire the macintosh laptops. i admire the os and the classes apple has. i'm no loyalist to Mac or laptop yet I do use a Mac. I had a compaq as quickly as that became into terrible and have been given terrble viruses on it, and that i hear thats a foul variety besides and my boyfriend's runs relatively sluggish and theres hardly any reminiscence getting used on it. yet i'm undecided the variety relatively concerns as long as you will get the specs you like on the workstation.

Apple is great for its graphics, if you are going to use it for gaming I probably would get that. However the Dell laptops are pretty decent, I inherited it from my Dad when he got another Dell.
However he doesn't go into gaming like it you might. Check them both out and compare.
Dell has auctions on refurished computers on their site. They are better on price compared to Apple.

I have a Compaq Presario and I love it. I have had it for eight or nine months and have not had any problems. Compaq's are great laptops at a great price, in my opinion.
