It is very complex as we are made up of many things, both physically and emotionally that all come together to make up you and me and everyone else.

There are many factors that make you who you are, but the most primary are: heredity, your upbringing by your parents and their parenting styles, which parent you bonded with, and the environment you were in at the early stages of your life make you who you are today. If you had Authoritarian parents, who enforced rigid rules and demanded strict obedience to authority, you might be obedient and self-controlled, but emotionally stiff, withdrawn, apprehensive, and lacking in curiousity. If you had overly permissive parents, who give little guidance, allow too much freedom or don't hold the child accountable for their actions, you might be dependent, immature, and you mighb misbehave frequently. Also if you were securely attached to your primary caregiver (usually a mother) by the age of one, you might show more resiliencey, curiosity, problem-solving ability, and social competence in preschool. The caregiving and discipline you were given at those stages also influence who you become today. I'm not going to go into that, unless you ask me to. The environment is also an important factor. If you as a child suffered severe deprevation ( lack of normal stimulation, nutrition, comfort or love), you might be mute, retarded, and emotionally damaged, and can suffer from stunted growth associated with stress, isolation, or general deprivation. Children that grow up in poverty-stricken homes, tend to have lower IQs, and are also more fearful, unhapy and prone to hostile or aggressive behavior. On the other hand, if you lived in a stimulating and enriching environment, you are more likely to be the opposite

What makes you uniquely you is a combination of:
What you THINK (your thoughts and beliefs about everything you encounter), what you FEEL (your emotional reactions to whatever comes your way in life), what you DO (your actual physical and/or interpersonal behavior, both when you are alone and when you are interacting with other people, including what you say to both yourself and to others), plus all the traits and predispositions you have INHERITED from your relatives.

Your brain and the thoughts you have.

If you lost your leg or even your whole torso and your head were alive, you'd still be you.

Your feelings define you, who you are. Our thoughts, personalities and feelings are different. My opinion is that our feelings define us the most because nobody can have my feelings, control them and can match my own feelings.
Peace!
