Well, I'm assuming this is an interview, otherwise the question is specifically asking how YOU use it. :-)
I use mine to keep me moving - When I'm running, the songs help me to pace and to focus on the music rather than my running out of wind! I use it when I clean house or do homework for the same reasons. I've seen them used as a sort of Jump-Drive as well.
The disadvantages would be that they're a little fragile, water-sensitive, they disconnect me from interacting with the real world, they can cause hearing damage, ear irritation, and they require a computer to get the music. Further, many people also violate the copyright laws by stealing the music on their iPods.

IPOD is used for:
-holding audio songs in various formats such mp3 and wav.
-Holding photos
-Holding audiobooks
-listening to your favourite usic on the move
-reading books while on the go
-has built in clock settings.
-can be used as address book
-some have eatures to set alarm
-reading notes while on the go.
-download tunes from respective serice provider (ie tiunes)
cons:
takes up too muchof your time so you can't concentrate on studies?
