Personally, I am not really concerned about it. I think that it is happening, but I'm not freaking out about it. What about you?

here we go again....

When will simple minded gulliable people come to realise that what humans do has very little effect on global warming. The Earth goes through climatic changes on a regular cycle.

People seem to think that it's all down to pollution which is heresay and no matter how many "so called" experts lie to us about global warming I will not believe them.

There is plenty of evidence to back up climatic cycles but unless you tow the line with these "global warming disaster" experts you are simply brushed off as out of touch...

I agree with the need to recycle and look for cleaner fuels as that aids against pollution... which, by the way, is nothing to do with climate change.

Give it 10 or so years and the new topic will be global cooling and there will be all sorts of nutballs running round saying we are heading toward the next ice age !!

Sleep easy, for it is all a load of cobblers... climatic change is merely a weather cycle. This winter was supposed to be the harshest in the last decade, if not, ever... and it was one of the mildest... it just shows they cannot predict anything correctly. Also, when they talk about climatic change they always blast you with worst case scenario... this rarely happens, if ever, with any so called "experts" opinion...

Mega

Ps. thewilds01, it was obvious the "experts" were going to say it is a man made problem. Could you imagine if they said it was due to climatic cycles what the outcome would have been? All the governments taxes on greener environmentaly friendly claptrap would have been revealed for exactly what it is... a huge TAX for the greedy blighters to take even more money off us. There is no chance they would allow that.... think about it... it is a multi billion pound cash cow !!

Not going to worry about it yet.

First we are getting a summary not the report and the scientists didn’t even write the summary that going to be released.

They won’t release the whole report for over a year (or more) from now so it’s a little hard to comment on it yet. Now if it’s as bad as they seem to be saying why not release the entire unfinished report now? Or at least the data. Then we could start to review the science behind it and make sure that its sound. After that then we can make INFORMED decisions.

I find it a little funny that we are getting a summary of the document that has not been finalized and released into the public domain. Also this summary had to be approved line by line by the governments of the countries which are members of the IPCC.

I’m not saying that the report is wrong, or that even the summary is wrong, but how do you or I know without the data? We can’t. That’s not to say I’m not waiting to see the summary, I am. But to make policy from a summary of a report that isn’t finished yet? Would that be wise? Really if that data is showing that we need to cut CO2 by half or more at least post that data out there. The sooner we get the data the sooner we can review it. The sooner we review it the sooner we can make policy.

I don’t know how much research you did for your school paper, but you didn’t dig far enough. Here are a few questions I bet you didn’t even think to ask.

What is the global mean temperature?

They are still trying to figure that one out, there are some good numbers but not everyone agrees with the methods that are being used. If you don’t know that you can’t even start to say that the temperature is rising.

Here’s an easy one quick name the #1 green house gas.

It’s H2O.

How much effect does CO2 have on temperature? ETC.

Think about this first the Silent Spring (1962), then came the populations bomb 1960’s, then a few great scientists saying that we were on the verge of a new ICE AGE. (1970’s) We had some good data, the models showed we were heading for one. Don’t forget about the famine scare, we were going to poison all the land and starve to death or nuclear destruction with a nuclear winter, (80s). I’m old enough to remember a lot of this, 70’s onward, so I want to see the data and make sure it sound, before I go out and make major changes. (Just so you know according to most of those we are all dead now. I think they got it wrong, unless you and everyone else is a figment of my imagination, and that's a scary thought.)

So I’m not too going to get too worried about it, until ALL the data has been released, and we’ve had a little time to review it. As hot as this topic is it’ll take less then six months to see if the data pans out.

The sooner we review the data the sooner we can make policy, or do we just say there’s an ice age coming, sorry, global warming coming make a lot of changes and hope they’re right?

One last thing, I can prove Global warming is happening, both logically and with science, the only question is how much of global warming is caused by man. Don’t fall for ‘Post Hoc ergo Propter Hoc’ (After it, therefore caused by it). That is just because man is here doesn’t mean we are the cause of global warming any more then we were reasonable for the little ice age. We might contribute to the problem, and I stress MIGHT but until we get the data who can say if we are and to what degree.

I'm very concerned about it, along with other environmental concerns such as toxins in the food chain and water supply, atmospheric pollution, deforestation and loss of topsoil. Fortunately for me, I won't be here when the consequences of my generation are reaped by my children and my grandchildren. I feel truly sorry for those that will inherit the planet we've laid to waste. I'm not sure what you mean by, "not freaking out about it", but it seems like if there ever was something worthy of being freaked out about, this would be it. But maybe, what you mean is, you're not concerned because you know that if we all work together we can do something about it and you're keeping your cool as you work to do whatever you can in this direction. In that case, I say, "Right on!"

It's so exasperating to read some of the garbage written here by the global warming skeptics . Let's see. On one side we have an overwhelmingly huge majority of world scientists agreeing that GW is real and caused by man with a greater than 90% certainty. On the other side we have a handful of scientists, most of them with conflict of interest due to receiving oil company funding.

The question is huge. If what the IPCC report s claims is true, it literally means the end of the world AS WE KNOW IT. And we can do something to ameliorate the effects. But, no, people here would rather sit on their duffs and spout denial. You would think that for a question as huge as this, it would be worth doing a little reading of the report, right?

Some say they want evidence? Here's their evidence - read the last report. It was convincing enough. Oh, what's that they say? They don't understand it? Well then they should keep their friggin mouth's shut and let the people that do understand the science figure it out for them.

The new IPCC report is out and soon they'll be able to read that too. Will any of them do that? I doubt it. It's so much easier to just say they don't believe it. If they haven't read the report and don't understand what went into the making of that report, how can they possibly think they're qualified to open their mouths about it?

My attitude about GW, per se, is pretty much what yours is. What I'm most certain about is that the overreaction to it will have a greater effect on my life than the actual warming. I mean, lets get real, who among us isn't used to temperature swings of 100 + degrees over a years time? And now the scale is going to shift up so that I will experience what Mexico lives through. Big Deal.

There is no telling what the government will force us all to do. Carbon quotas? Only time will tell.

It's foolish to think man is responsible for the weather .I know many democrat politicians think they are God but they are taking it a little too far . I try to tune out their malarky so no-I'm not freaking out . They turn the weather into a political issue just so they can raise taxes . Besides that old Gore prediction about the oceans drying up -what's up with that ? Shouldn't they be dry-about ten years ago according to Gore ?

I live in the northeast. I have liked the warming in Nov., Dec., and the first half of Jan. We are about 24" of snow under the norm for this year. I love it. It is going to be colder than the norm this coming week. I like global warming. Just not in the summer!

you should be freaked out i am i did a research paper on global warming for school it is devastating entire countries under water most of the world large cites no snow unbearable winters more high level hurricanes new york under water global warming is the worlds biggest threat and don't think this is years away and you will be dead by then no this is more like 20 years from now if you don't care about global warming you are contibuiting to the world end this is something that will effect you in a big way this is something that the children of tomorrow will have to deal with . you are going to leave the world in a whole everything messed up you need to worry you need to do something . let me explain global warming to you greenhouse gases carbon dioxide mainly goes in to the air when this is to much like the massive amount we are sending into the air . its like there should be the amount of a mouse and we are sending an elephant . this is devastating this horrible this will take the lives of so many people as they know it away from them . don't listen to people who say its just a warming period its not that there is no scientist who really believes that it is all are fault and our responsibility to fix we need to by stop buring so much coal oil and natruel gas these are what cause global warming . i urge you to do all you can to stop global warming

It does not really trouble me. To be selfish and I think a lot of us are, to me it's like me having life insurance, it's not going to trouble me when I'm dead. I suppose that a lot of generations before us thought like that about non renewable resources, so we are no different from previous generations.

I think it is real. Most people do not freak out about things unless it directly effects them.
