Mostly. They can tell if the hymn is not intact. This doesn't neccessarily mean a girl isn't, especially if she is active and plays sports. Most doctors in the US do not see this as an indication of sexual activity.
In some middle eastern countries girls are checked by a doctor to insure they are virgins before marriage. They also have a new cosmetic surgery that restores a broken hymn. This is more popular with middle eastern girls going to school in the US than anybody else.

Yes but it is not fool-proof. Most girls have a structure just inside them called the "Hymen" -- this membrane is torn the first time they are penetrated... and there is a small amount of bleeding. Some girls have smaller hymens that are not torn with first time. Some highly active girls' hymens are torn without having sex... say through self pleasuring, horse-back riding, sports, etc. A vaginal exam by a physician can also break the hymen.
In some cultures, the family of the groom insists upon such an examination of the bride to assure that she is "pure" -- causing much distress when the judgement of the doctor is that she is not a virgin when she has not had sex. I think that this is a barbaric custom that has ruined the lives of some lovely couples unfairly. Purity comes from the heart -- and love does not depend upon whether the girl has no experience on her wedding day.

It depends on how you define "virgin."
Medically, it means that the hymen is intact. Using that definition, many girls lose their virginity to tampons, their own fingers, or sometimes it just tears or stretches during physical activity.
It is possible to see whether or not the hymen is intact by doing a gynecological exam. It looks different.
If the hymen is intact, there has not been penetration by a penis. She could have had all kinds of other sexual experiences though.
If the hymen has been broken, it does not necessarily mean she has had sex of any kind.

Yes. females are born with a small, very thin tissue "downstairs" called the hymen. A woman's hymen busts and bleeds the first time it is penetrated so a simple visual test can tell if it is still intact. There are a few glitches in our modern world though. If a girl uses tampons but does not have sex, there is a chance she can bust her hymen and still be a virgin.

You can check if the hymen is still intact. If it is, then then the girl didn't have intercourse. I wouldn't say virgin, coz myabe she had other forms of sex.
If the hymen is ruptured, it doesn't mean 100% that she had intercourse, as it could have ruptured by vigourous exercise e.g. cycling, stretching etc.
There's no other medical tests to check the virginity, except for the lie detector test.

Depends on your definition of virgin. She could have "pleasured" herself and torn her hymen(Not sure on the spelling). It depends. Penentration could have happened MANY other ways than having sex. Depends on your definition of sex!
