Favoritism is something which can't be 100% eliminated as people are human and teachers will have some students they like more than others. In a fair and perfect world it is hoped they will not put their feelings into practice. It is not a fair and perfect world, in case you haven't learned that yet. You cannot change an impartial teacher. You can only change how you deal with this person. Do your very best work, study, and hand in every required homework assignment. Demonstrate a mature and positive attitude at all times. In other words, do not let any one person, be it teacher or student get in the way of your free schooling and your opportunity to learn. These people will soon be out of your life forever but what YOU ALONE take away from your educational experience will forever effect you. So please, get over these people and focus on why you are really there....to learn and move on to higher things. Bless you.

Quotes On Partiality By Teachers

Yes I do think there are teachers who are partial to some students. And no, I don't think it affects the real growth. Bosses show partiality to some employees. It is a fact of life, and they need to learn that. Real growth is learning that everyone is not going to like you no matter what you do. Just like you are not going to like everybody. I don't care about people who don't like me, I only care about the people who do. But given time, I am sure this will be a political issue.

It is very true that some teachers show favortisim to students, but the student still has a responsibility for their own learning (i.e. homework, being to class on time, taking notes, etc...). Many teachers will give attention to students who are showing them that they are interested in learning.
The best way to get a teacher to help your student is to ask them what they would like to see as far as growth. Does your child need to stop talking during class, be responsible for their materials, be to class on time? Once you find this out, ask the teacher the best way to help your child accomplish this task. This will help the teacher realize that you want to be involved too and they will be more likely to help out with the learning process.

It is almost impossible not to have a favorite student/s, but a good teacher works very hard not to show favortism. They try to administer consequences equally to all students and dole out praise equally as well. Human nature being what it is makes this a difficult task at times, but allowing personal feelings for, or against, an individual student is not good teaching and does case a great deal of harm.

Any teacher who says they don't play favorites is a liar. However most of them will tend to favor the students who are respectful and actually produce.
